My commitment to you: I will listen and work to ensure that your voice is heard within APA. Together we can work to fulfill APA's mission to "To promote the advancement, communication, and application of psychological science and knowledge to benefit society and improve lives" both locally and globally.
Psychological Science
Leverage psychological science to address critical societal issues such as improving global public health, reducing health disparities, enhancing organizational and community effectiveness, and guiding ethical technological development. Promote human rights and social justice through evidence-based policies and psychology-informed approaches. Promote research across all levels—from biological and clinical psychology to community and international psychology—to deepen understanding and expand real-world impact.
Practice
The practice of psychology is essential because it applies scientific knowledge of human behavior to promote mental health, well-being, and human flourishing across diverse domains such as health, forensics, organizations, sports, education, and communities. By using evidence-based assessment, intervention, and prevention strategies, psychology helps address complex challenges, improve individual and societal outcomes, and build more effective, equitable, and compassionate systems.
Advocacy
Advocacy in psychology is essential for promoting human rights, social justice, fairness, and human dignity. By partnering with psychological organizations and serving as a key resource for evidence-based standards and guidance, we can strengthen psychology's impact both locally and globally. Empowering voices and perspectives leads to a more enriched and impactful profession for all.
Education
Promote a broad and accurate public understanding of psychology by highlighting its wide-ranging contributions to health and the well-being of individuals, organizations, and communities, and by making psychological science accessible to the public and key decision makers. Support psychology education at all levels—from K–12 through higher education and ongoing professional development—to foster lifelong appreciation, understanding, and application of psychological knowledge.
